Cultural Studies
Students are to learn and experience the value of cultural heritage building substance in an urban context.
A footwalk in the inner city of Punes old city centre shows the students the various aesthetic qualities of the old portuguese and british architecture. The focus of this excursion is the morphology of the urban space and its interconnection with private interior spaces. It will be explained to the students in how far proportions, rhythms, sequences and the finish of facades and walls effect the overall atmosphere of public, urban spaces.
On some chosen examples the students will analyze and describe what techniques the old building masters used, to design various connections between inside and outside, between public and private spaces and rooms. The relationships and similiarities of artificial interior and exterior spaces will be analyzed, described, and fixed in fotos and sketches.
