DESIGN PROJECT

1 Objective
The aim of the assignment is to develop a final design solution respecting the criteria and constraints of the project and the
previous phases. The students will develop a professional presentation (ppt, 3d-model and studio poster) and will submit a
report to support their ideas. They will be expected to commit themselves to the project and show responsibility in meeting
prescribed deadlines.
2 The Task
The student is to develop the last phase of the project. The last phase involves the development from the chosen structural
ideas basis and its three dimensional model to a complete comprehensive office project as described in the students project
brief from phase 2.
The overall office interior design is including the followings:
-ideas for the space planning and the urban context
-lighting distribution and furniture layout
-materials, finishes and colour scheme
-continuity, hierarchy and flow of the interior rooms and its functional concept.
3 Submission Requirements
The final submission of the assignment must include the following: [as a minimum requirement]
-• Floorplan overall scheme @ 1:50
-• Detail focus area @ 1:25
-• Section overall scheme @ 1:50
-• Section focus area @ 1:25
-• 2 x interior perspective views (e.g. focus area)
-• Diagrams describing the essential ideas behind the configuration of your design.
-• Model or sectional model of overall or focus area @ 1:50 or 1:25
-• Type written report of at least 1000 words
This project encourages students to produce material in all possible media; including auto-CAD, photography, Photoshop,
inDesign, hand drafting and architectural graphics models. As a studio project students are expected to deliver maximum
effort in designing and developing creative content and presentation to a professional standard.
4 Assignment Weightage
This assignment will constitute 45% of the total assessment for the module.
5 Assessment Criteria
Graphic Skills 40%
Text Skills 30%
Overall clarity and quality of work 30%
6 Review Dates
The assessment events are as follows:
Review 1-3 on Week 6-8 (as per Lesson Plan)
Halftime Pinup and Review 4 on Week 9 (as per Lesson Plan)
Review 5 on Week 10 (as per Lesson Plan)
Submission and Final Presentation / Jury on Week on Week 12 (as per Lesson Plan)
7 Submission Deadline
All work is to be submitted by Week 12
Late submission will not be accepted.
8 Working materials
The students have to bring at least the following items to each class for this module:
- pencil
- transparent sketching paper roll (Jackson Kitchen Paper)
- note-/ sketchbook
- motivation
